10 Signs You Were Born to Be a Travel Advisor

become a travel advisor

Be honest , whenever you're chatting with someone, how long is it before the conversation turns to travel? Before you know it, you've checked their dates, chosen a hotel, and are already telling them everything they should see and do there.

Yep. That's what we thought.

There's a specific kind of person who ends up planning every trip for every person in their life, whether they meant to or not. If that's you, this is your sign that the thing you've been doing for free might actually be a business.

So, how many of these are true about you?

1. You're the one people are always asking.

Not "can you recommend a hotel," but "can you plan our whole honeymoon," like it's a totally normal thing to ask a friend. You've stopped being surprised by this.

2. You've built an itinerary for a trip nobody asked you to plan.

Maybe it was for a trip you're not even going on. Maybe it's just sitting in your Notes app for "someday." You did it anyway, because it was fun.

3. More than once this week, you've had five tabs open researching a place you saw on Instagram.

Not just where it is, BUT you already know when's the best time to go and which activities are actually worth booking.

4. You know the difference between a good layover and a bad one, instinctively.

You've never had to think hard about whether a 55-minute connection in a big airport is a bad idea. You just know.

5. You've talked someone out of a mediocre hotel and into a better one, in a better location.

This is basically your superpower, and you don't even think of it as one AND checking those details has become second nature.

6. Comparing cruise cabin categories sounds like fun to you, not tedious.

Balcony vs. oceanview vs. interior with a virtual window. You like knowing all the options.

7. You've said "just send me your dates and budget, I'll handle the rest" more than once.

And you meant it. And it was genuinely fun for you, not a chore you were being nice about.

8. You have strong, unsolicited opinions about the best time to visit places.

Rome in shoulder season. Bali avoiding monsoon. Paris in that one specific week in September. Nobody asked, you told them anyway, and you were right.

9. You always click on the "48 Hours in Amsterdam" or "A Weekend in Charleston" post.

Doesn't matter if you're not even going. You just want to know what they recommend AND whether you'd have done it differently.

10. You've got a Pinterest travel board that's more organized than your actual life.

It has sub-boards. It has seasons.

So, what's the count? How many of these are true for you?

If it's three or more, we're not exaggerating when we say you were basically born for this. That instinct to plan, to research, to make someone else's trip better than they imagined — that's not just a personality quirk. It's a skill. And it's one that travel suppliers actually pay for.

Here's the part most people don't realize: when you book a client's cruise, hotel stay, or custom itinerary through a travel advisor, the supplier pays a commission for that booking.  It's money that's already built into the price, not an extra fee your friend or client pays. Somebody earns that commission on every single trip that gets booked. Right now, that's not you. It could be.

That's exactly what being an advisor with Sunshine Travelers Experiences is. It's turning the thing you already do for free into something that actually pays you. No travel degree required, no sales quota. It's you, still planning trips for your friends and for yourself BUT it's just that now the travel suppliers are paying you a commission for it. It's the research-obsessed, detail-loving, always-has-a-Google-Doc-open instinct you already have, pointed at something that builds real income (AND we also have some systems for you that will make travel planning a whole lot easier).

If this sounds like you, JOIN US. You can start turning "I'll just plan it" into "wow, I can't believe I actually got paid for that."
